Pyramid Rule Making filing with the FCC (update):

Over the past years, Pyramid Communications, manufacturer of In-Vehicle Repeaters, has been seeking expansion of the VHF spectrum available for public safety vehicle repeaters by proposing changes to existing FCC law.  To summarize our efforts, what we are seeking is truly a critical need by many public safety agencies so they can communicate safely and effectively during their daily use of two-way radio.  We are asking for certain spectrum above 170 MHz have its existing rules changes to open up the possibility of public safety vehicle repeater use on these channel.  Our primary goal is to help the end users secure the safety of life and property by good communications, as there is a definite need for better communications to portable users for many agencies.

Pyramid has reached the next step in the process to getting the FCC part 90 rule changes. We need your help.

This is another opportunity for the pubic to stand up and have their voices heard by the FCC.  We have filed a RM (Rule Making) with the FCC (see link).  What this means is the FCC is considering our ideas on the changes of the current law and will be taking comments from the public to form their decision .

Please--end-users especially--take a moment to file comments to support our initiative to expand the availability of VHF spectrum as possible, as this is the ONLY way to prompt the FCC to move our suggestions to a (NPRM) New Proposed Rule Making.

Please POST A COMMENT!  These changes are paramount to allow public safety agencies to communicate effectively in the field.

To post comments, visit http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/ or http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload/display?z=hgapa .  Reference comments on RM-11635.

You can upload a document on letterhead or simply  type in comments on form provided on the website.  Either way, the FCC just needs to hear what you think about the proposal. Thank you for your consideration.

From the Public Safety Alliance website: The allocation of the D-Block spectrum and funding to public safety is critical to building a nationwide wireless broadband network that provides the capacity needed to transmit mission critical real-time high-resolution video, voice and data. Unless Congress passes legislation this year to allocate the D-Block spectrum to public safety, the FCC will auction the spectrum for commercial services.

Visit the PSA website to learn what you can do to help support their efforts.

CALL TO ACTION to all End Users of Vehicle Repeater Equipment:

On January 6, 2010, the FCC released WTB Docket No. 10-4, which contained several requests for rule changes regarding the operation of signal boosters pursuant to parts 22, 24, 27 and 90 of the Commission's rules, including 90.247 which pertains to the use of Vehicular Repeaters.  In response to that docket, Pyramid Communications submitted an additional petition specific to Vehicular Repeater use to allocate VHF spectrum for in-band licensing of Vehicular Repeaters.

Time is a key factor in the pursuit.  If licensing of VHF in-band Vehicular Repeaters is an important issue for your agency, we respectfully request that you gather up support to provide positive responses to Pyramid's petition before February 22, 2010, via the FCC website at http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload .   Select 10-4 as the proceeding number. Contact PMC today for a copy of Pyramid's petition. THANK YOU!
